Time flies. It has been a while since Martushka and her collaborators Mukesh Khugsal and Raju Pushola returned from their Nanda Raj Jat Yatra advenures. The journey turned out to be truly challenging, especially physically. But it was also a very rewarding and memorable time for them filled with inspiring encounters, truly spiritual moments, and really hard work as photographers.
Martushka was the only non-Indian photographer to cover Raj Yatra this year, which made it unique experience for her. She experienced not only remarkable hospitality not only from local people from Uttarakhand, but also from all the pilgrims she met on her way. Moreover she became a local celebrity and was often interviewed for local TV and newspapers, which made her into some sort of really famous person at Raj Yatra. It also challenged her Hindi quite often ;)
"Madame you are famous! You are in news today!" Apparently what brought fame to Martushka was the fact that she was eating with her hands!
Currently Martushka, Mukesh and Raju take some time to recover their energy. They already started editing materials collected during eventful three weeks at Raj Yatra. It might take some time till their edits are ready to be shared with a wider public. Please stay patient!
Meanwhile let's enjoy some impressions from their time at Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra. All in all it was a lot of fun with blood, sweat, and tears at times, but also with some dances - after all "dancing is praying" :)
